Now Reporting from the very famous n very haunted Stephen F Austin Hotel in downtown Austin tonight.
Tomorrow We honor Guy next door inside the beautiful Paramount Theatre.
Our thanks to our Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame for putting this together and making this happen.
Guy Clark was my Big Brother in many ways. He was always showing me a way for me to become a better writer. I will be forever grateful to him n I hope that we make him proud...
Those of You who can be here with us will be privy to what I know will be a great night of stories & songs. Those of you who can't??? We 'Know That You Know'
and understand that Guy always gave the best of Him.
We're all better for it.

So... It's Friday nite! Now Jack n I take a hint from our
'Viking Ancestors'
insomuch as we take our Friday Nite/
Saturday Morning adventures very seriously. In the morning they'll be a visit to
'Fall Down Tree'
(Sorry... That's privileged information)... but it appears we've kicked it off with an adult dose of Bob Wills vinyl n dancing in the kitchen. Then Dad puts on dinner, a Jesus thank you and homemade (& very heart healthy) meatloaf n appropriate sides. A bath seems to be in order so there's that... and then a little jam session...and THEN...
It'll be time for 2 Andy Griffiths (B&W only please), Whole Foods chocolate chip cookies n ice cold milk. Mmmm Hmmm...
Now, I know to all the folks who are hitting the honky tonks tonight.... this may seem boring but for me??? it's a perfect evening.
Almost, Ya Know.

My thanks to all of you who chimed in re my computer woes. My IT man was just here n after some rather simple (yet tedious for me anyway🙄) password changes... I'm back in business... This stuff wears me out!!!
I've had my eye on coolest lil home and I'm thinking this may the way for me to go... Comes with a built in rotary phone and has NO internet service...
Hey... A Grown * Man can dream, Ya Know.

I am a grateful Man,
You Know.
I am so very grateful for this day and as it comes to a close I am dreaming about a simple life in my ancestral home... Ireland...
and the ring of love that continually surrounds me.
She makes me feel... centered.
I am praying for Fulfillment.
Surely, God didn't bring Me this far just to drop me on my head.
I Believe.

G'nite n Sleep tight.

Southbound Music Festival

April 21, 2017, 5:00pm - April 22, 2017, 12:00am

AN AMERICANA MUSIC FESTIVAL ON CHERRY STREET IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN HELENA, ARKANSAS FEATURING: Ray Wylie Hubbard Lee Roy Parnell The Cerny Brothers Blue Mother Tupelo The Dirty Rain Revelers Deep South with C.W.Gatlin Adam Faucett (Adam Faucett Music) Johnny Neel Stephanie & Stephen Taylor Wilkison Mulberry Jam Dallas Alice Kassi Moe Bryce Carlisle (Bryce Carlisle Music) Stephen Newman PLUS MANY MORE TO COME! Helena Arkansas lies on the banks of the Mississippi River at the foot of the Ozark Mountains and the top of the western delta. A million years ago it was the confluence of two great rivers that carved out its geographical shape. Because of this gumbo of mud and clay and water, it created another gumbo. One of music. It takes strains of Ozark mountain folk mixed with delta field hollers. Hard scrabble and hard times. A toughness that was necessary to survive. Soulful, but with an attitude. Not a sweet soul like the Memphis sound. Those were city folk, where life was easier. These were country folk that had to fight to survive and didn’t take handouts from nobody. This is the same dirt that gave rise to Levon Helm, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Sonny Boy Williamson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and some mighty fine barbeque. They all have an edge. Like placing water on a blade of a knife, volatile, it could go either way. Just like their music, it could go anyway, at any time. Unpredictable. The spirit in this music and this regionis what we want to capture and showcase to the world foryearsto come withthe Southbound Music Festival.
